How Long Do the Results of Liquid Rhinoplasty Typically Last?

7/13/2024

Rhinoplasty remains one of the most in-demand cosmetic procedures performed today, helping millions of people improve the appearance of their noses, reduce obstructive breathing symptoms, sleep better, and feel more confident than ever. However, there are a number of reasons why a person may be searching for an alternative to rhinoplasty surgery. For instance, some patients may prefer to avoid general anesthesia and an extended recovery period.

At The Rhinoplasty Society, made up of board-certified surgeons and rhinoplasty specialists across the country, our members understand that not everyone may be ready, willing, or able to undergo nasal surgery, and we are proud to offer nonsurgical rhinoplasty options as an alternative. One of the most popular nonsurgical nose job treatments is liquid rhinoplasty, which typically involves injecting dermal fillers to reshape the nose, fill depressions, and make other minor adjustments. While a surgical rhinoplasty is certainly the longer-lasting solution for enhancing the nose, liquid rhinoplasty can still be a compelling option — with results lasting for up to a year or longer.

What is a liquid nose job?

A liquid nose job, or liquid rhinoplasty, is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure used to make subtle adjustments to the appearance of the nose. This is accomplished through the injection of dermal fillers in strategic areas to reshape, recontour, smooth, and fine-tune various characteristics of the nose. On occasion, a fat transfer to the nose may be combined with nose fillers. Some of the concerns that can be addressed with liquid rhinoplasty include:

  • Asymmetric nose
  • Depressions
  • Scarring
  • Bump in nasal bridge
  • Crooked nose
  • Appearance of nasal tip

Can a liquid nose job make my nose smaller?

It is important for patients considering fillers in the nose to understand that this technique will add volume to the nose. While adding volume in certain areas may help improve the proportions of the nose, patients interested in getting a smaller nose overall may be better suited to surgical rhinoplasty.

How long does a liquid nose job last?

The results of liquid rhinoplasty should be almost instantly visible and continue to improve over about two weeks as the fillers settle and soften. While the longevity of nasal fillers will vary somewhat based on which type of filler is used, how quickly a person naturally breaks down the filler, and other factors, many patients are able to enjoy their liquid nose job for up to 12 months — and sometimes even 18 months — before repeat injections may be needed. For patients who undergo a fat transfer to the nose, the results may last indefinitely, provided the person maintains a stable weight. During your initial consultation for nonsurgical rhinoplasty, one of our board-certified surgeons will discuss your options at length and help you better understand how long results may last.
