Dr. Marcelo Wulkan (PhD in rhinoplasty at Univeristy of São Paulo) is a plastic surgeon and a specialist member of the Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery and upon completion of his residency in plastic surgery, he chose to specialize even more in aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery in the United States.
Dr. Wulkan's education has given him the ability to learn from surgeons at the top of thier field, as well as giving him a wide array of experience. He has Studied at top Universities such as:
At Harvard, Dr. Wulkan had the opportunity to learn directly with leading plastic surgeons of the most prestigious medical institution in the world. The daily and intensive contact in all three major Harvard teaching hospitals (Brigham and Women’s, Beit Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Children’s Hospital) was essential to improve surgical techniques and approaches in plastic surgery. In particular, he devoted himself actively to the learning of nose surgery (rhinoplasty), nasal reconstruction and body contouring after massive weight loss.
Learning at Harvard included daily surgical training at the Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery, as well as the scientific production of numerous medical articles with the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. The conviviality and exchange of experiences resulted in the official invitation for Dr. Wulkan lecture for the team of plastic surgeons from Harvard, becoming one of the youngest foreign plastic surgeons to give to do so to the prestigious Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. The class “Brazilian Refinements in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery” was considered by the Harvard team by the following words:
“The lesson revealed the depth and maturity of Dr. Wulkan in Plastic Surgery. This presentation showed excellent knowledge and interpretation of some of the more complex plastic surgeries. It also showed the high ethical standards with which he works and how he pursues excellence in patient care.”
New York University Medical Center-MEETH
In New York, Dr. Wulkan learned directly with renowned plastic surgeons and facial plastic surgery doctors. Reconstructive surgery was learned at the Institute of Reconstructive Plastic Reconstructive Surgery (IRPS) of the New York University Medical Center.
At the Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital (MEETH) in New York, an institution that has the largest number of cosmetic surgeries in the world, he focused on rhinoplasty, facial rejuvenation surgery / neck (face lift), eyelid and eyebrows surgery. He specialized not only in nasal aesthetics but also on the functional aspects of nasal surgery with otolaryngologists.
Dallas and University of Illinois at Chicago
The procedures for nose and face most widely used were created in the cradle of modern plastic surgery: Dallas and Chicago. Learning in these centers gave Dr. Wulkan knowledge of depth and complexity unrivaled.
The study in rhinoplasty and nasal reconstruction was guided by the best surgeons in the US in the cities of Boston (Harvard), New York (New York University), Nashua, San Francisco, Dallas and Chicago (University of Illinois at Chicago). The daily and intensive contact with the “masters of modern rhinoplasty” allowed Dr. Wulkan to learn a variety of techniques. Thus, Dr. Wulkan allows full treatment for patients in need of aesthetic and functional nasal surgery (primary or secondary rhinoplasty) as well as nasal reconstruction.
During his academic and international activities, Dr. Wulkan developed dozens of scientific papers and articles published in medical journals. He also presented lectures, courses, seminars and participated in numerous conferences in Brazil and other countries.
